Thomas Carroll studied Bookbinding and Applied Print Science at Dublin Institute of Technology Bolton Street in conjunction with a five-year apprenticeship starting in 1976. Twenty-six years later and with plenty of experience, he is now located in Waterford city where he has established a book bindery using equipment and techniques from past centuries. He has traveled extensively during those interim years acquiring tools, equipment and sourcing suppliers which now can be accessed easily through the internet.

The main priority of Tom's business is to produce quality bindings regardless if they are trade bindings, theses or fine leather bindings. He views the preservation of books as a living history as well as archival material. His keen interest and artistic flair are evident in his work
